Established in 2011 by former oncologist and 40-year art collector Marc Straus on the Lower East Side, the gallery occupies a fully reconstructed four-story historical building on Grand Street, representing 25 artists from 16 countries and focusing on both discovery of emerging international talent and rediscovery of overlooked older artists, earning recognition as one of New York's leading contemporary art galleries.
