About

Founded by Wendy Olsoff and Penny Pilkington in 1983 during the first wave of East Village art galleries, P.P.O.W. has remained true to its early vision of showing contemporary work exploring issues of gender, sexuality, race, and social inequality. After relocating from the East Village to SoHo in 1988, Chelsea in 2002, and Tribeca in 2021, the gallery maintains a diverse roster including the estates of David Wojnarowicz and Carolee Schneemann, as well as pioneering artists like Martin Wong, Martha Wilson, and Betty Tompkins.
