Isabelle Brourman's "Exhibit 1: Paper Trail" presents a unique artistic documentation of the Donald Trump trials, featuring courtroom sketches that break from traditional court art conventions. As a court sketch artist covering Trump's various trials for New York magazine, Brourman created what she calls "art for art's sake" rather than traditional "art for absent eyes." Her work captures not just the courtroom proceedings but the emotions and atmosphere of these historic trials, using what she describes as her "Tasmanian-devil glamour" style. The exhibition includes drawings, marked up materials, and artifacts from her time documenting the civil fraud trial and criminal proceedings. Brourman's expressionistic approach has been compared to German expressionism, with her work serving as both historical record and artistic interpretation of a pivotal moment in American history. The project, as she states, "keeps a record of the feeling" and represents "the American Imagination" rather than simply documenting Trump himself.
